Adding a Sewing Station to the Project MAKE Classroom

After I had finished my latest Maker Bot plushie prototype, Mr. Shea had said that somene had donated a sewing machine, and was hoping to make a permanent station in the classroom for it. It was hidden amongst old computers, but I grabbed it and set it down on a table to check its condition. Once I had taken the cover off of it, it was clear that it hadn't been used in a bit - it was covered in a mildewy-mold; and I'm still not quite sure exactly what it was. I grabbed some cleaner and a rag, and I think it's turned out quite nice.

After checking the model and brand out online, Husqvarna Viking 400, I think that it's an embroidery AND sewing machine. It has 30 different stitches, but the stitches can be programmed into patterns of multiple stitches, which is pretty cool (still haven't figured out how to do that just yet). Of course with a new and different sewing machine to ine at home, there's a bit of learning curve (as visible in one of the pictures - yeah...). I will have to get used to the bobbin running out and not stopping (which caused the loop), and the different way of threading the bobbin and the needle.
