Project Proposal

For my project for the second semester, I have decided to create a helping robot out of a Roomba and a robotic remote controlled arm that raises and lowers. A Roomba is a robot, produced by iRobot, that traditionally vaccuums floors, but can be hacked into being controlled by multiple sensors or even a Kinect!

The essential and most expensive aspects of project are a Roomba (which we may or may not have), at least one Servo (an electrical device that moves parts; similar to an motor), a Roomba remote control (found here), a tray, and some sort of material for the Servo to raise that is connected to the tray. As of right now, the estimated cost of the materials has'nt been determined.

This project would be a fun way to learn robotics and more adavnced circuitry. If the project works, it could be used to help those with disabilities and/or handicaps. It would ultimately help those with limited mobility to access and bring and carry materials that might have been previously inaccessable.
